Mary's Smile Songwriting
& Recording Project
NEW!
At KEYS we are excited to be ramping up our music therapy program and this fall will be launching our new Mary's Smile Songwriting and Recording Project!
This project has been created in honor of KEYS Founder, Colleen Bennett's mother, Mary Blair. Mary is an amazing singer, who filled their home with music, dancing and joy throughout Colleen's childhood. She is a cancer survivor and continues to inspire us all with her strength, faith, fun-loving personality and beautiful smile!
This is an expansion of our music therapy services, where children battling cancer, along with their siblings and parents, write, perform and record donors together, with the guidance of our music therapists. This project will give children a creative and beautiful way to express their feelings, share their story or leave a legacy for their family. Whether a teen writing a song to celebrate the freedom of their end of chemo, a sibling writing a song about their brother or sister who have passed away, a parent writing a song to express their love for their child, the whole family writing their "go to fight song" that will accompany and inspire them along their journey, or a child composing a beautiful song, recorded in their voice and to their heartbeat, to leave as legacy and gift for their family, the impact of what this project can do to support and build-up families in our community is truly immeasurable.
We are adding recording equipment to our KEYS Studios this fall for Mary's Smile. Stay tuned for updates, photos and videos in the coming months!
Big thanks to the UpMobility Foundation and Oneida Savings Charitable Foundation for partnering with KEYS on this amazing expansion of our program!
