Music Therapy

Since 1993, the KEYS Program has been delivering smiles to the bedside of pediatric patients through its music therapy outreach programs!

All music therapy sessions are provided by our board certified music therapist and include music activities such as; songwriting, recording, instrument playing, music appreciation, movement, singing and lots of smile making!

Music Therapy for KEYS Kids

Thanks to our foundation partners, sponsors and donors, we are able to provide FREE music therapy for kiddos battling cancer, serious illnesses and their siblings!

Music Therapy for the Community

We also provide music therapy services for children, adults, schools, special needs sites, nursing homes and many other groups for an affordable fee for service.  (See our services and rates below)

“Amelia is singing along to her music therapy session in the car as we travel down the road to Boston for her next surgery. It really made the trip go by so much faster and helped her focus on something other than her fears and anxiety leading up to surgery. We are so thankful to have the KEYS Program along with us on our journey, literally!”

Music Therapy Services for the Community

Along with our KEYS kids (kids impacted by cancer and their siblings),

we serve “all of those in need of healing”,including;

Our Valerie’s Smile Music Therapy program continues to serve nursing home sites, with a focus on the Alzheimer/dementia patients, in order to improve the quality of life of their patients and to bring weekly joy to their hearts!

Thanks to the support of our foundation partners, we were able to provide music therapy for Rome Memorial Hospital.

This program has been re-named Valerie’s Smile memory of KEYS Founder David Bennett’s mother and former KEYS Board Member Valerie Cresswell, who passed away from dementia on March 24, 2022. ♡

Music is Universal

Because music is considered a “universal language”, it can create a bridge between individuals and their environment, and help to facilitate relationships, learning, self-expression, and communication in a non-threatening and fun way.

What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is defined by the American Music Therapy Association as the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.

Clinical Music Interventions

Music Therapy is an established clinical health service similar to occupational therapy and physical therapy and consists of using music therapeutically to address physical, psychological, cognitive and/or social functioning for patients of all ages.
