National Hospice & Palliative Care Month

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month  We wanted to share this testimonial from one of our KEYS families to show the impact of music for our families going through hospice and palliative care, as well as other difficult journeys.

Thank you to the Finnegan Family for sharing your story with us and letting us share it with our community!

“There is really just not enough we can say about our music therapy with The KEYS Program…soul lifting and nothing short of miraculous in terms of what it gave to Kian (and our entire family). Kian went months unresponsive at first and music therapy was the first time he started tapping his foot in the hospital. When he came home and we found out about KEYS, it was the highlight of the week and the way he began to communicate. On his last day, I held him as he strummed a guitar with our music therapist and I looked down and knew he was happy in that moment. I feel so strongly about the power of music therapy at end of life. It gave our entire family so much comfort and joy in Kian’s time here. KEYS continues to support June throughout the next 11 years of her journey. It was KEYS that helped June sing at Kian’s Celebration of Life- an idea I would not have thought of on my own but one that had a tremendously positive impact on June’s grieving process. I am so thankful The KEYS Program exists."

From Kian’s mom, Adrienne Finnegan
